The Lost City Diner: Delicious & Timeless Near Union Wharf

The diner that inspired Diner, Barry Levinson's classic Baltimore film, is no longer with us. But Charles Street's Lost City Diner gives a sense of what it must have been like.

Well, somewhat. Levinson's diner wasn't covered in sci-fi memorabilia — you might call The Lost City Diner meets Hairspray. Regardless, this is a trip back to the 1950s and all you've ever loved about American diners. The menu is phonebook-thick, and whether you want pancakes, a burger, a wrap, steak, or veggie options, you'll find what you're craving. There's good, cheap coffee served by smiling, attentive staff, and they're open late — at least 11 p.m. on weekdays depending on business, 3 a.m. at weekends. What more could you ask for near Union Wharf?

Read the paper alone, bring the family, or pile in with friends to fuel up for a night out. It's that kind of place. Check Lost City Diner's site for full hours, menus, and awesome photo galleries.
